Our dad is the best gardener I know. We grew up planting 1000s of bulbs with him every Fall (he paid us a penny per bulb), reaping the fruits of our labor by cutting bouquets of daffodils and tulips in the Spring, spending hours in the garden running around barefoot and chasing our chickens. Years later, my wedding reception was in the very same garden.
Dad was diagnosed with 2 forms of rare cancer last October. This past year has been a roller coaster of trials and treatments. He received stem cell therapy several months ago and recently had his 100 day checkup where he received a cancer-free scan.
I worked on this wild and free bouquet during this time, giving thanks for the miraculous and tender healing that is happening in his body, praying that we will all have so many more years of marveling at flowers together.
