We have a few customers who have told us recently that they are choosing to support small businesses this year for Christmas, and let me tell you: it really makes a difference to my family.
I admit, I’ve been a bit frantic recently. It’s a lot to be married to someone who is also an entrepreneur, have a three-year-old, a baby on the way, and be a paraplegic.
My husband is in the field of energy research, and I’d love for him to be able to pursue that further. (We are so opposite in that way — his brain is science, my brain is art. But we get along really well in one respect: we believe in each other’s entrepreneurial dreams and want to impact people and the planet in a positive, healthful way.)
He’s been working on his PhD again, but I know all he really wants to be doing is research and production.
Tiny and Snail means that it’s possible that I might be able to make enough money for our family so he can “quit his day job” and go all in on furthering along sustainable alternative energy solutions. (We’d need to be *very* mindful of where each dollar is going but luckily we’re scrappy people!)
So big companies might not feel your support this winter, but we will.
You're also supporting Grace/Snail and her husband and two little boys too!
When you choose to buy from us, your dollars also...
- Go to the USPS.
Support our packager Carolyn, and several women who work with her too.
Purchase paper made in Wisconsin from a paper company that emphasizes sustainable forestry (also happens to be the nicest paper we can find).
Support people at a printing facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (also happens to be some of the highest quality printing we can find).
It is so cool to get to serve such a mindful, generous audience. Trying to convince people to buy something they are going to give away is an interesting proposition (although many customers complain that they want to hoard our cards!).
You’ve been my reason to wake up in the morning every day, excited to work. You’ve supported our families while choosing to support the people to whom you send these cards.
And it’s a beautiful exchange of support.
What you get when you buy our cards
When you buy from us, you are buying a tangible gift AND an experience, for yourself and another person.
We believe that quality matters, that card writing matters, that people matter, and our relationship with the Earth matters.
We are so glad that it matters to you too. We’ve definitely found our people. 🥰
Life is expensive. Water heaters break, cars need gas, the price of groceries has gone up. (But we’ve kept our card prices the same.)
If you’re in the position to spend some money on yourself and others this Black Friday, all I’m saying is that… you can’t go wrong with our cards. 😃
Black Friday Sale Week Details
We’re excited to be offering some deals on greeting cards this Black Friday. We can’t sustainably run discounts like this all year round, but last year lots of customers sprang for some cards because of our sale and said it made a huge difference for them – so we’d like to offer as generous of a deal as we can afford.
We’re adding a couple “mini-packs” this year that will be good for giving gifts, and also as just a manageable way to put some love in the mail this winter — sending a little light in the deep dark of this season.
We’re going to launch this sale starting THIS Friday. It will go through Cyber Monday. (Nov. 22-Dec. 2)
Tell your friends and family about it! 😊 (Which helps support our dreams and a more sustainable, healthy future for all of us!)
Wishing you peace and presence in this busy season, 🌿
a.k.a. Leah and Grace

I’m so glad you reminded us all of the faces behind the company communications. Supporting artists — any small business, really — has such an important ripple effect for owners, employees, and then out into their community. And into YOUR community too if you consider the delivery folks who bring us the things we order from you. And then there are the people we send our cards too…what a beautiful universe of ripples!
Thanks for this email today, Leah—I’ve been purchasing extra card collections since I bought my very first collection from you last Feb, I’m thinking…I plan on “gifting” collections to several old friends because it is so very nice to have “good quality, thoughtfully created cards in one’s house—ready to be sent out when you get news that someone in your circle needs a special lift…Tiny and Snail cards hit the mark in so many cases—and I remember a day when a group of my friends were getting together, and we were planning to send a mutual friend some cards of support in her Cancer treatment struggles…I brought some pens and a couple of your collections—the women loved them, and asked me if they could take some extras with them so they could send them to other friends—of course I said “yes” and gave them info to check out your Web-site…Thank you both for pursuing your dreams, persevering thru the complexities of daily life, and creating beautiful little “cheer ups” for this very chaotic world we live in right now…Take care!!!
Words cannot express my gratitude for all the art on cards that you make!!! I truly love sending them. My friends love receiving them! I appreciate you and your sister!!! PLEASE keep doing what you love doing.
I’m very happy and exited for both of you girls and your beautiful, expanding families! I love those photos, thank you for sharing!
I couldn’t agree more, Leah, with your feelings and comments about the world needing more beauty through art! I’m so happy that you are both doing well and that you’re finding a way to continue with your perfect choice of a business!
I love your cards and so do my wife and daughter and I’m super excited to see what your Black Friday options will be! It’s been a financially difficult year, but i can’t go through the season of Christmas without buying gifts, so I’ve arranged my budget to allow this and you’ll be getting my business! I agree with your customers wanting to support local, small businesses and I’m so happy that you two are here to support! They will be the perfect gift and this year I’m excited to add my daughter -in-law, Šárka, to the list! Another artist who just grad with her PhD in piano performance from Lincoln and is now faculty there! She LOVES art, also! All the best to you both!! Michael
I have fell in love with your cards, but more the personal touch from you both. It’s like we know your real people, living real lives and how you personalize the emails to us.
I will share your cards via on social media.
