My 21 month-old, Everett, is a little fruit bat. He also is quite keen on cocktail shrimp, noodles, minestrone soup…but fruit triumphs over everything.
He will gladly inhale any fruit set in front of him – but since bananas are particularly easy to prepare and can also go into food like pancakes and smoothies, they hold a special place on the grocery list.
I also love to reach for a banana rather frequently so these days, the number that we go through every week is simply…bananas. 😆
I’ve been particularly enjoying a simple banana milkshake lately and wanted to share the “recipe” with you in case you could use a healthy treat.
(I made one for my husband Bobby the other night. He said it was nothing like he expected since he thought it would include ice cream. BUT he still slurped it right down and was like, “Whoa, how did you make this?”)
If there’s one way to take a card writing session from good to great, it’s having a delicious beverage to sip while you write. It gets the endorphins flowing on multiple fronts.
So may I suggest that you whip up one of these and then dig into your stash to write a card or two? (And maybe paint a banana envelope while you're at it. 😏)

Ultra-Easy Banana Milkshake
*1 banana (frozen if you’ve planned ahead but I usually just pop it in straight from the peel)
*1 cup milk (I like whole milk, you could also use your milk substitute of choice)
*bloop of vanilla extract (maybe ¼ tsp or so? You can add more depending on your tastebuds!)
*4-5 ice cubes
*Sometimes if I want to create a little more, I’ll add some more milk and a bit of water – this makes it a little less sweet, though.
Blend baby, blend.
Drink baby, drink.
Give it a whirl and let me know what you think. 🙂 Curious whether you have any beverages of choice when you're writing a card?
Sending you bunches of love,

a.k.a. Grace and Leah

I love writing out cards—and this milkshake is the perfect drink for me to try next since I’ve given up sweets since the beginning of February. I usually go to a fruit when I want something yummy, but this will soon become my new treat. Thank you.
As much as I know that you two beautiful souls are on your way to unimagined success mostly because of your humanness and because you are so approachable, I also know that this growth will come with a price. The price of time you will lack to share with us that sweet and positive glimpse into your lives. You feed my soul with all I need when the world around me feels as though I cannot do enough to remind it to just accept and love one another.
My 76 year old heart holds your hearts so dearly.
Thanks for the recipe! I think having a beverage with card writing creates a ritual that slows us down to write better!
This sounds delicious! Trying with my next banana purchase!
Your newsletters are great marketing: personal, practical and professional. They make me want to buy more cards, try your recipe and smile 😃 at your family stories.
