Dear Friend,
Two days ago, our cat—who is only two years old—thumped off the bed, suddenly paralyzed in his back legs. He went from a normal, healthy cat to barely hanging on within a few minutes.
We think it’s a clot.
There isn’t a whole lot we can do for him. The medical prognosis is pretty dim. We gave him blood thinners, and will care for him and hope that he might turn around. At least he doesn't seem like he is in much pain.
...
Last night before bed my husband and daughter were cuddling and it was so cute. They were talking about the new baby on the way and all the things Ellie will teach him.
This stage we are at in life is SO very sweet.
I’m aware (probably more than a lot of people my age) that you never know when things will change.
Between thinking about our cat Peanut, overwhelmed with how very precious Ellie is, and thinking of how I’m about to bring a new life into the picture, tears started gushing.
Ellie came over to try to cheer me up. She gave me a hug, offered to get me a toy, and told me to take four deep breaths. (Honestly, she is going to make an amazing older sister.)
She asked me why I was crying, and I could barely get it out. She's too young to be absorbing the reasons why I’m afraid that things could change — even by this afternoon, things could turn radically different.
All you really can do is hug the people in your life and tell them how much they mean to you.
Cards/writing to people is one of the best ways I know how to combat the feeling that I will never have enough time with Ellie and the other people I love. ...
Some people have asked us about Valentine’s Day cards...
If you’ve been around here for a beat, you’ll know that we tend to make cards that can be sent throughout the year, and not just on holidays. So although we don’t have a Valentine’s pack, we always offer the Love Pack .
When I wasn’t in a relationship, Valentine’s Day became a day for me to appreciate all different forms of love in my life — whether that was sisterly love with Grace and my other siblings, the love I had for my parents, the relationships I had with some very close friends, or even the snuggles I got to share with my dog.
The Love Pack, which is our 8 best selling love cards, is a wonderful smattering of cards focused on appreciation — whether it be:
- Romantic (“Waltzing Rabbits” was an illustration I created for Kelsey and my wedding — this can also double as a good wedding or anniversary card.)
- Friendship — celebrating the joy of having a cup of coffee and a good chat with a friend, or saying how grateful you are to be close to someone
- Kid friendly — “I Love You Bunches and Bunches”
- Appreciation — “You’re the GOAT” works well for a variety of people you look up to (Grandparents in particular). “Light of all Lights” is one that people often use to express their gratitude as well. “Grateful for You in Every Season” is another multi-use card that I created for both my Dad and husband who enjoy gardening.
You will never regret the time spent working on a letter. So sit down with a cup of tea and a card and dig up those warm fuzzies ❤️
The richer the details you provide, the more the recipient will want to read it over and over again and save it as a keepsake — AND the more it boosts your mood too.
So include a memory, talk about a favorite character trait of theirs, and thank them for being in your life.
Maybe shed a few tears, soaking in the appreciation for them. 🥲
That’s what Valentine’s Day is all about. (But Kelsey, if you are reading this, I wouldn’t say no to chocolate too. 😉)

P.S. If you order asap, as long as there are no hiccups with the post office, we think there should be enough time to get them and send them out in time for Valentine's. But if not, I don't think a love letter can really ever be too late anyway.

I love this card and hope it will be for sale soon.
I love your story and that you are so close, if only most of us could be with our sisters.
xoxo,
