59 hours of art in 24 minutes: Watch these cards come to life
I illustrate on an iPad using a program called Procreate. It’s way more accessible than oil paints and canvases – which used to be my primary mode before I was paralyzed.
I am thankful every single day for the ease that the iPad now affords me to still create gorgeous art!
Illustrating this way also makes it much more seamless to go from the art to the printed cards (we used to do the designs with paint and then scan them in to digitize them – which was a nightmare trying to adjust the colors to match the original).
For a while now, I’ve been wanting to create a video showing the timelapses of me drawing a whole collection and pair it with a playlist that you can play as you write cards.
I hope that you enjoy watching this art come to life. Some cards come to me quickly, other cards take a loooong time to figure out what I want them to say or how to get the illustrations “right.”
You may disagree with where I took a drawing! There is no “right” or “perfect” solution for art. It’s not a science, it’s an art! :D
That’s the nerve-wracking thing about being an artist. In a world that is filled with seemingly perfect things (like manufactured iPhones), it’s scary to put out art that perhaps will have people wishing it would somehow be different. (We sometimes get comments about the lettering, for example, being too small on some cards.)
However, that’s art. It’s impossible to make a piece of art that everyone is going to love, and yet – I try. 😅 I’m a people pleaser, and I try to make it as good as it can be so that you enjoy looking at the designs and are excited to send them to your loved ones, and they are proud to display them in their space. But at a certain point, I just have to stop finessing and stressing and release it to the world.
I hope this video sort of meditative to watch. And it might be good music to listen to as you send cards to people. 🙂
I enjoyed watching your video and look forward to receiving my first order.
It was a joy to watch the video, a glimpse into your process of creating these cards. You are amazing in so many ways, your art is like a visualization of the essence of your amazingness. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for a peek at your creative process that allows the card to come alive. There are so many choices that you can make and it’s fascinating to see where and how changes in shape, depth and color make a difference in your work. One challenge is bringing your vision to life so that we can grasp what we see and have our vision of it come to life, too.
Happiness and success shared is delight doubled. Thank you for letting everyone share your joy. And reap the benefits, that we can shared again, and again…..we celebrate YOU and the whole team
!!!!
It was so fun watching you create a card. I can see how clever you are in changes to make it more appealing. Even just the way you write the words! My aunt was an art teacher and taught me to appreciate art even though I’m not much of an artist! I would see one of her creations in her sketch book and say how nice it was. She would say oh that one is not so good! She saw it with her creative thoughts and eyes! I love the daffodil card! In Florida we don’t have daffodils or tulips to declare the start of spring! Magnolia trees and amaryllis instead.buena arte!

This was my 2nd set of the Essential 16 & The Birthday pack. I send my sister at least 2 cards per week, which she has professed many times each has buoyed her spirits. I constantly collect quotes that will inspire, validate, or encourage her & love pairing one of these with the perfect card. I have also written to her husband & 3 daughters as a way of supporting them as well. I don't live close, but this is a means of staying in contact & to let them know everything they do is noticed & appreciated. I think if I had the stock"thinking of you" cards, I would not write as often because they are truly uninspiring - nothing like the beautiful art work showcased by Leah & Grace. I especially love their interaction with people who order their cards! I could easily be their friend & champion; I've grown to love them both these last 7 months!
