59 hours of art in 24 minutes: Watch these cards come to life
I illustrate on an iPad using a program called Procreate. It’s way more accessible than oil paints and canvases – which used to be my primary mode before I was paralyzed.
I am thankful every single day for the ease that the iPad now affords me to still create gorgeous art!
Illustrating this way also makes it much more seamless to go from the art to the printed cards (we used to do the designs with paint and then scan them in to digitize them – which was a nightmare trying to adjust the colors to match the original).
For a while now, I’ve been wanting to create a video showing the timelapses of me drawing a whole collection and pair it with a playlist that you can play as you write cards.
I hope that you enjoy watching this art come to life. Some cards come to me quickly, other cards take a loooong time to figure out what I want them to say or how to get the illustrations “right.”
You may disagree with where I took a drawing! There is no “right” or “perfect” solution for art. It’s not a science, it’s an art! :D
That’s the nerve-wracking thing about being an artist. In a world that is filled with seemingly perfect things (like manufactured iPhones), it’s scary to put out art that perhaps will have people wishing it would somehow be different. (We sometimes get comments about the lettering, for example, being too small on some cards.)
However, that’s art. It’s impossible to make a piece of art that everyone is going to love, and yet – I try. 😅 I’m a people pleaser, and I try to make it as good as it can be so that you enjoy looking at the designs and are excited to send them to your loved ones, and they are proud to display them in their space. But at a certain point, I just have to stop finessing and stressing and release it to the world.
I hope this video sort of meditative to watch. And it might be good music to listen to as you send cards to people. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing your creative process with us! This was fascinating to watch and see all of the different directions you went with each card before you ended up with your final piece of art. I love your cards and am so grateful you found a way to share your talents with others, not only with those of us who purchase your cards, but those with whom we share them. Please keep painting! I did love the music as well.
Thank you for sharing your creative process with us, Leah. The development each card goes through with color, phrasing and the small details is so impressive. I can’t wait to share this new collection with those I love. Great music selection too!
So amazing to watch! Thank you for this inside look. My dad became paralyzed in 2019 after a motorcycle accident. As horrible as his accident was, it allows him more time to paint as well.
This process is amazing to watch. Thank you for sharing. I don’t love what much of modern technology has done for we humans…this is a genius, miracle art tool though.
Never worry about getting it right…it’s always right for someone. Thank you!
Brilliant! Thanks for this inside look at your creative process.

This card speaks truth. We all have a story and we ALL have difficulties woven throughout it. This card is a reminder that difficulties can bring beautiful things, too. Sending it is a great way to acknowledge someone's struggles while also marveling at their strength and resilience.
I am really slammed for time right now but want to take a quick minute to say how special I find the Tiny and Snail
cards. I fell in love with Tiny and Snail's cards along with their story. Fierce women moving forward in today's world
with wisdom and grace. I look forward to things slowing down for me so that I can make my old-fashioned walk to
the mailbox to share the love with friends and family. Patti
This card pack is wonderful. So many uses for all of these cards. My favorite is All Swears and All Prayers! I gave it to my friend going through a tough year teaching! It was the perfect card to give her-we laughed and cried as she read it! Thank you, Tiny and Snail for giving words and beauty to my thoughts! 💗💗💗
I love these gorgeous cards! You can use each of them for many different occasions and times of year - they are so versatile. Most everyone who receives one of these cards from me posts a picture on Facebook and thanks me. What a great way to share your love! Buy a pack - or like me, buy TWO! They will get good use.
