The Bloom Collection Timelapse Video

59 hours of art in 24 minutes: Watch these cards come to life

I illustrate on an iPad using a program called Procreate. It’s way more accessible than oil paints and canvases – which used to be my primary mode before I was paralyzed.

I am thankful every single day for the ease that the iPad now affords me to still create gorgeous art!

Illustrating this way also makes it much more seamless to go from the art to the printed cards (we used to do the designs with paint and then scan them in to digitize them – which was a nightmare trying to adjust the colors to match the original).

For a while now, I’ve been wanting to create a video showing the timelapses of me drawing a whole collection and pair it with a playlist that you can play as you write cards.

I hope that you enjoy watching this art come to life. Some cards come to me quickly, other cards take a loooong time to figure out what I want them to say or how to get the illustrations “right.”

You may disagree with where I took a drawing! There is no “right” or “perfect” solution for art. It’s not a science, it’s an art! :D

That’s the nerve-wracking thing about being an artist. In a world that is filled with seemingly perfect things (like manufactured iPhones), it’s scary to put out art that perhaps will have people wishing it would somehow be different. (We sometimes get comments about the lettering, for example, being too small on some cards.)

However, that’s art. It’s impossible to make a piece of art that everyone is going to love, and yet – I try. 😅 I’m a people pleaser, and I try to make it as good as it can be so that you enjoy looking at the designs and are excited to send them to your loved ones, and they are proud to display them in their space. But at a certain point, I just have to stop finessing and stressing and release it to the world.

I hope this video sort of meditative to watch. And it might be good music to listen to as you send cards to people. 🙂
